Mililani Town Center

My sister and I were looking for a way to spend our afternoon, so we decided to check out Mililani Town Center. The Town Center is located in the heart of Mililani and is conveniently located across from Wal-Mart, and is close to several restaurants. The Library is also just across the street from the [...]

Children’s Discovery Center: Amazing Transformation

Especially dedicated to mommies and pre-school teachers dealing with sponge kids who just seem to absorb everything - ideal learning experience! It is a three storey museum building filled with surprises and adventures not just for the keikis (kids) but also for young adults to seniors. It is a place for everyone’s imagination to come to reality. I will briefly talk about the RAINBOW WORLD where I flew from country to country and didn’t have to worry about jetlag.

The Dole Plantation - Wahiawa, Oahu

When my friend Lizzie came to see me, I just knew she’d love checking out the Dole Plantation. It’s just north of Wahiawa, and a really fun outing for anyone who likes food, nature, and plants. I’d already been to the Dole Plantation several times, but since it was Lizzie’s first trip to Hawaii, we decided to go.

Searching for Geckos — Your Little Island Friends - Honolulu

Since then, I am constantly aware of potential gecko situations!

A Day at Eternity Beach - Fun and Secluded!

The next really cool, out of the way place I’d like to tell folks about is one of our favorite beaches on the planet. It’s known to the locals as Eternity Beach. Some of my friends will probably want to kick me for telling the world about it, so let’s hope it remains a secret!

Sunset at China Wall - Oahu

Mary and I live in Hawaii Kai, which is on the southeast tip of Oahu. If you’re heading to the popular tourist destinations of Oahu’s windward side from Waikiki or downtown Honolulu, like Hanauma Bay or Sea Life Park, you will pass through Hawaii Kai. This area has some beautiful, out-of-the-way places that are off the beaten tourist path. China Wall is one of our favorites.

Feeding the Fish at the Byodo-in Temple- Oahu

From the moment I moved to Oahu, I have been interested in checking out the Byodo-in Temple. I imagined a place of refuge, somewhere where I could unwind and maybe even meditate. I’d also heard about the Koi fish in the garden of the temple and I was especially excited to see if they were as big in real life as in photos I’d seen! So on a Monday morning, I went in search of tranquility with my friend Jeannine, who was visiting from New Jersey.

A Kite and a Picnic at Ali’i Beach Park-Hale’iwa

Rich blue sky set off by sharp white clouds, a vast expanse of green grass, the sound of waves gently crashing, and the trade winds playful at your back—the perfect day for a kite and a picnic at Ali’i Beach Park. Ali’i Beach is a local favorite for body-boarding and surfing alike but the [...]

Sunset at, ahem, Sunset Beach - North Shore

What better place to go and watch the sunset than, well, Sunset Beach? It’s not a misnomer. This North Shore beach is a spectacular sure thing for watching the Hawaiian sun set over the Pacific in all seasons. Unlike other beaches on the North Shore that seasonally lose their [...]
